New project - CREATE, comes to Peckham's Christ Church

The Unwin and Friary Estate in Peckham has a new arts project which, is being run entirely by Well London volunteers.

CREATE has been developed as a direct response to residents needs. Locals felt there was a lack of regular activities where people can meet and try new things. This project responds to this by offering a range of arts and crafts activities including cake decorating, embroidery skills and sewing.

This new group will enable people to try activities such as these and variety of other things in a safe and fun environment.

The Well London co-ordinator for the local area Rupal Shah described the project, ‘one of the main outcomes will be people of all ages and backgrounds coming together to have a chat. This group is a really exciting development for the area and will continue beyond the life of Well London thus acting as a legacy for the programme on the estate. The volunteers have done an amazing job to get it to this stage and wish them all the luck to keep it going.’

If you’d like to find out more about the CREATE project then come down to Christ Church in Peckham on Saturday mornings at 11am or email createpeckham@gmail.com.
